
2010 Wimbledon witnessed the longest tennis match ever played in history of tennis. It was first round at Wimbledon at Court 18, between 23rd seeded John Isner of US and unseeded qualifier Nicolas Mahut of France. The match began without any expectation on 22nd June 2010, Tuesday after 6 PM, British Summer Time and match was stopped after 9 PM due to fading light with scores reading 6–4, 3–6, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(7–3) towards John Isner of US and fifth set was under progress.
Play resumed on 23rd June after 2 PM and went until 5.45 PM with scores tied at 59 each before it stopped due to fading light. Play again resumed on 24th June and finally got over at 70-68 in favour of John Isner where final set lasted for epic 8 hours and 11 minutes.
In total, match was played for 11 hours and 5 minutes spanning across 3 days with final score reading 6–4, 3–6, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(7–3), 70–68 and finally John Isner triumphs thereby became longest tennis match ever played in history of tennis.
